Most couples don't have in-depth money conversations.
You might say, "Hooray, we've paid off the student loans!" or "Honey, don't forget that the water bill is due next week."
You might say, "Hon, did you pay off the Visa this month?" or "I think it's time to replace the car." These are all conversations about the day-to-day management of money.
But why not have a conversation about your long-term goals? Where do you hope to be -- financially -- in 5 years? 10 years? How much do you realistically think each child will cost? Under what circumstances -- if any -- are you willing to go into debt? What's your investing style?
My latest post describes how to talk to your spouse or partner about money. Check it out -- it might put your relationship on an even-more-solid track.
