Want to read two true stories of reader lives?
The first story describes Luke (not his real name), who (mostly) put himself through college without taking out student loans. He worked higher-wage jobs than most of his peers, taking on skilled gigs like hanging drywall and landscaping. He also lived at home with his mom, to avoid paying for an apartment. The combination of those two things allowed him to pay his tuition and books in cash.
The second story describes Lexi (also not her real name), who is 20 and living on her own for the first time. She's taking a year off from college, and she's figuring out just how to budget for all of her basic bills: her rent, utilities, groceries, car insurance, car payment, gasoline and toiletries.
Both stories are real, though the names have been changed. Check them out! Then leave a comment with your own story.
